ABOUT LAW 626

Italy's Law Decree 626 of 18 September 1994 came into effect on 1 January 1997, and regards the prevention of risks involved in working at computer terminals and workplace health and safety. Here are a couple of excerpts:

"...The work chair must be stable, and must allow the user a certain freedom of movement and a comfortable position. Seat height must be adjustable with a gas pump, the backrest must provide support for the back and must be adjustable in height and angle. The seat and backrest must also be anatomical and rounded to avoid the compression of blood vessels ..."
"...The work table must have a surface with low reflection, and must be large enough to permit a flexible layout of the screen, keyboard, documents and other materials..."
